Being that computers provided my livelihood, you'd think I would avoid them in my personal life. However, I always felt that they could do the mundane stuff much more efficiently than I could, so I was delighted when they finally became cheap enough to use at home.

My job evolved as computers did, and I followed them all the way from the mainframe down to the PC. I feel lucky to have been in the industry early, and have seen the progress made. It's going to be amazing, I believe, what will be done with computers in the future.

I'm probably lucky I don't have wires attached to me--I have computerized my lights, heating and ventilation, do my banking online, use an online broker, keep my wine cellar, print postage, create websites, volunteer to non-profits, and even write my travelogues on my computer.

And, here you are, reading something that exists only as electronic bits!
