This is a pretty broad category! 'Guess I'll tell you about my forays into music which are mostly centered around piano. Piano lessons at an early age: At least pretty early--I started when I was six years old, and had lessons from a variety of teachers until I was a senior in high school. I think it was pretty neat that I had the range of teachers I had, from classical, to church music, to popular music. It's also probably the reason I never excelled at any one of them. But, I had plenty of practice at church music, and also tried out accordion, vibraharp and the pump organ. I played cello in the school orchestra, but would never have excelled at that, even though my orchestra teacher wanted me to try for a scholarship in cello. In college, I played the piano for a male quartet, and even traveled with them, making enough money to pay for part of my education. We performed at small concerts, weddings, funerals, and even basketball games! After college, I played for churches on occasion, and even a wedding now and then. Then came a long dry spell, where I didn't have a piano. And, even after I
got a spinet, I didn't like it well enough to play much. Then I was fortunate
enough to come across a 6 foot Yamaha grand that needed a home. Since I don't have the grand anymore, I've been looking into getting a professional electronic keyboard, perhaps the Yamaha 3000. My dream always was to play cocktail music in an elegant lounge. And, if you count playing background music in the college cafeteria during banquets something of that nature, then maybe I made it! When reality sets in, I know that playing music in a room where most everyone is ignoring you wouldn't be all that great. So, I have the most fun just playing for myself.
